One of the prime reasons for India’s in my perspective was the huge expectations on the young brigade of India. If you could see all the players were match winners and top performers of their respective sides in the IPL but still couldn’t win a single match for their country when it needed the most. But on the other hands the foreign players played much more efficiently for their country and won them matches. A lot of cricket during the IPL season was also another major factor for their slump though there are several speculations surrounding this statement.
Coming to India’s performance, the absence of prolific opener Sehwag was felt badly as he was a key element in their winning combination for the past one and half years. There was a dilemma over who’s to come in at number 3 in the mind of Dhoni, whether to send Suresh Raina or himself. But to India’s agony both didn’t work. The only solace for India was the prime form of Yuvraj as he played like a champion in the tournament and Yusuf also showed some character in the matches he got to bat. The bowling department completely disappointed their captain failing to rise to the occasion against mightier opponents.
Cricket is a gamble and the people of India should understand this and leave the team alone. We have seen that a team like ours which possesses a cricket God like Sachin and yet has failed to win a World Cup after 1983 is mainly due to the huge expectations of our people.
